It is with great excitement that I announce the official launch of The Corporate Purpose Podcast: a podcast about the changing business landscape and what it means to build and grow a business with a clear purpose. Throughout the first season, I’m combining a mix of interviews and how-to episodes covering topics like writing a good purpose statement, finding and hiring the right people and building a compelling ESG program.
Here’s a quick look at episodes 1 and 2 and sneak peek at episode 3 dropping on July 19, 2021.
Episode 1. Finding Purpose
In this kick off episode, I’m sharing my experience starting a business that lacked focus and ultimately finding my purpose helping companies define theirs. I’m also breaking down the business case for purposeful business. Join me for the research, trends and behaviors that are leading to a massive change in how we do business.

Episode 2. Closing the Purpose Gap
Does your business have a purpose gap? In this episode, I’m exploring the ‘purpose gap’ or the space between what a brands says is their purpose and what they’re actually doing to put their purpose into action. I look at the data, discuss why this gap exists in most companies and share tips on what leaders can do to close the gap.

I hope you consider subscribing so you don’t miss this episode. Through the discussion, I also share some helpful tips I use working with companies to define their purpose.
Why I Started this Podcast
In January, I started laying out my business goals and objectives for 2021. I realized that after four years writing about purpose, I wanted to bring some new ideas and voices into the mix. This was the catalyst for the Alignd Interview series.
During the first half of 2021, I started interviewing CEOs and business leaders about running and building a purpose-driven business. I realized I love talking to people about purpose and purpose-driven business. The only downside was that I could only capture the high points of our 45 minute conversation in a blog post. That’s when I saw an invite for a course on podcasting and I jumped.
With the support and encouragement of some great people around the world, I struggled through learning new software, getting comfortable talking into a microphone and mixing audio. Like most of my fellow podcasters, there were moments we wanted to give up, moments we thought it would never come together, and moments we celebrated from different countries and cities as each of us pressed publish on our first episode.
I am so incredibly thankful for the friendships and connections I made throughout this process. I’m also grateful for the individuals who were willing to be interviewed for “a new, not-yet-released podcast on purpose.” I look forward to sharing their stories.
How You Can Help
Whether you’re new to purpose or have been deeply involved in helping to build the purpose movement, I hope you consider checking out the podcast. I also welcome feedback and ideas for new episodes at any time. Finally, if you’re willing, there are a few easy ways you can help me share this podcast with more people:
- Subscribe. If you subscribe to the podcast, you will automatically be notified when new episodes drop each Monday.
- Rate and Review: Gotta love the algorithms. The best way for people to find my podcast on Apple is if people have rated and reviewed it.
- Share it with a friend or colleague. Word of mouth is by far the best way for a podcast to grow. If you enjoy the podcast or know someone who is curious about purpose, please consider sharing it with them.
- Join in the fun. Lastly, if you’re a purpose-driven leader or an expert on purposeful business, then drop me a note. I would love to know what you’re working on and see if you’d be a fit for a future episode.
